What information does this site handle?
There is no login, no account system and nothing you need to fill in to read our guides. The short version:
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Cookies | We do not set any |
| Analytics and ads | We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies |
| Browser storage | Price data only, briefly cached in sessionStorage; no personal data |
| Third-party requests | Your browser fetches live prices directly from CoinGecko, and from Coinbase as a backup |
| Server logs | Standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) |
| Used to reply to you and to fix our pages |
What do the server logs record?
The site is served as static files from a hosting server, which keeps access logs like almost every website does. A log entry typically includes your IP addressThe number that identifies a device or network connection on the internet. It can reveal your rough location and internet provider., the date and time, the page you requested, the page you came from and your user agentA short string your browser sends with every request, naming the browser, its version and your operating system..
Logs are used to keep the site running, investigate errors and block abusive traffic. We don't use them to identify individual readers and we don't sell them. Fonts and images are served from our own server too, so reading a page doesn't call an outside font or image service.
Does the site use cookies or local storage?
We don't set any cookiesSmall pieces of data a website asks your browser to keep, often used for logins, analytics or ad targeting.. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies either.
Our live-rate tools (the converter and the calculators) cache the latest prices in your browser's sessionStorageTemporary browser storage tied to one tab. It is cleared when the tab closes and is never sent to the website's server.. Only crypto prices are stored, nothing about you. The cached rate is reused for about 90 seconds so the page doesn't ask for prices on every click, it disappears when you close the tab, and it is never sent to our server.
What gets sent when live prices load?
Tools that show live prices ask CoinGecko (api.coingecko.com) for them directly from your browser. If CoinGecko doesn't answer, they ask Coinbase (api.coinbase.com) instead. The DCA (recurring-buy) simulator also downloads one year of price history from CoinGecko.
Because your browser makes these requests, those services see the same basics any website sees: your IP address, your user agent and which site the request came from. We don't pass them your name, email or anything else. What they do with that data is covered by the CoinGecko privacy policy and the Coinbase privacy policy. If neither service responds, the tools fall back to a dated reference rate built into the page.
Amounts you type into calculators
The yen or coin amounts you enter are calculated inside your browser. They are not sent to us or to the price providers.
What about outbound links and buy buttons?
Source links, links to exchanges' official sites and the buy buttons all take you to other websites, and their own privacy policies apply once you are there. The buy buttons lead to an international platform that is not registered with Japan's FSA; anything you enter there, such as sign-up or card details, is handled under that platform's terms and privacy policy. The disclaimer explains what those buttons are for.
How are emails to us handled?
If you email contact@cryptojapan.asia, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to reply and to check and correct our pages. We don't share them with third parties without your consent unless the law requires it.
Please don't send passwords, private keys, seed phrases or ID documents; we never need them. See the contact page for what is useful to include.
How do I make a privacy request under Japanese law?
We handle personal information in line with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). If you want us to disclose, correct, stop using or delete personal information we hold about you (in practice, the content of emails you sent us), email us. We will confirm that the request comes from you and respond as the law requires. The Personal Information Protection Commission publishes English information on the APPI.
Will this policy change?
If the way we handle information changes, this page changes with it. For example, if we ever add an analytics tool, we will name it here and describe what it collects. For how the site is run more generally, see about us.
